Decrease Vehicle “Wear and Tear”

  • Eliminate all unauthorized driving mileage costs:
  • nights, weekends, breaks, lunch, “moonlighting”
  • Use routing tools to cut down on unnecessary mileage driven
  • Use dispatching to find closest vehicle to a client location
  • See real-time traffic to avoid problems, reducing “windshield time”
  • Track all scheduled maintenance required for vehicles
  • be alerted when Maintenance tasks are due
  • Minimize “out of service” time and in ability to use vehicle
  • Avoid larger, more expensive problems caused by delayed service
  • Create “GREEN” Initiative due to reduced environmental impact

Marvin works for a residential plumbing company.  He starts his day by being given a list of customers he is supposed to visit.  He gets through as many appointments as he can, but often has to reschedule his final appointment for the next day because he will get a call for emergency service and he takes the call which forces him to push everything off.  Because no one knows for sure exactly how long he spends at each customer location, he is able to stop at his house and take a nap 3 days a week on average.  Twice in the past year, his truck has broken down on the side of the road because scheduled maintenance had accidentally been missed.  One of those times, he needed a $6,000 engine replacement due to forgotten required maintenance. After implementing Virtual Fleet Supervisor, he no longer makes any side trips including breaks to go home and take naps.  A dispatcher in his office is able to determine which driver is best to send to emergency calls, which eliminates him having to take calls that are really far away and take the ones that are very close.  Furthermore, the supervisor responsible for maintenance is now able to easily and effective track required schedule maintenance, which eliminates expensive repairs due to missed preventative maintenance. Overall, Marvin saved 40 miles per week, equating to 150 miles per month.  If we attribute $.35 to every mile driven by the vehicle, he is saving his company approximately $50 in maintenance and "wear and tear" costs every month.
